2019 BMW X7

In 2014, BMW confirmed the X7, which is currently the biggest SUV produced by the German manufacturer. However, we had to wait for years for the new model to arrive and today, you can find it positioned above the X5. Speaking of the X5, it was the first SUV that was produced by BMW and it appeared on the marked in 1999. It was hard at that time to recognize the company as one of the leaders in this segment but the Bavarians has launched four different crossovers. And with the X7 joining the lineup, you must be wondering what you should expect from this model? 2019 BMW X7

Moving to the sides and you will find taller side windows and large mirror caps and this makes everything about this model seem huge. The second and third row passengers will be able to access their seats easily thanks to the great exterior design.

Last but not least, the rear end of the X7 looks different from the X5’s one. Although large taillights are expected, they are actually slimmer and they don’t extend into the fenders as much. BMW didn’t forget to make the bumper large though whereas the tailgate resembles the one from the X5.

Other Exterior Details

The stock wheels are large enough, but the buyers can opt for 22-inch rims with additional payment. Among standard equipment, there are adaptive full LED lights with automatic high beams, but the Executive package brings laserlight lamps that look outstanding. 2019 BMW X7

In the meantime Connected Package Professional adds Remote Services, Concierge Services, Real-Time Traffic Information and On-Street Parking Information. DVD players, an HDMI socket and two headphone jacks are among the standard equipment.

Comfort

The X7 has room for seven people. The seats are made to be comfortable and the second-row bench can be replaced with captain’s chairs, which are on the list of options. This will reduce the hauling capacity to six people, but it will increase the comfort at the same time.

You can always increase the room in the trunk to 90.4 cubic feet if you fold flat the third-row and the second-row seats. Even though it is not as spacious as the Cadillac Escalade, it beats the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Under the Hood

The engine from the X5 has been taken and revised to be placed under the hood of the X7. The xDrive40i model is the starting trim in the United States. If you opt for it, it will take you only 5.8 seconds to hit 60mph-mark, which is not bad at all. The top speed of this SUV is 152 mph. Slotted just above is the xDrive50i that packs a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, delivering 456 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. More power means that it is quicker and it will reach the 60 mph milestone in 5.2 seconds.

For the European market, BMW will offer two diesels as well – the xDrive30d and the M50d. Both use the same engine – a 3.0-liter six-cylinder but the output is different. In the first model, it generates 261 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque while in the second it delivers 394 ponies and 561 lb-ft of torque. Also, the M50d is much quicker, as its top speed is limited to 155 mph to 141 mph of the xDrive30d.

The transmission comes with a wider ratio spread and new control electronics to improve the efficiency of the car while the latest generation of the xDrive AWD system is utilized.

Chassis and Suspension

The 2019 BMW X7 uses the suspension setup with a double wishbone at the front and a five-link configuration in the rear. The air suspension works together with the Dynamic Stability Control system. Therefore, the load of the SUV is registered by its sensors and it can be factored into braking calculations. Unrelated to this, the ride height can be adjusted when the engine is switched off with the optional BMW Display Key. Dynamic Handling Package bring a lot of interesting features to the mix such as Active Comfort Drive, enhancing agility and dynamics.

Safety Tech and Driver-Assist Features

The presence of safety and driver assist technology depends on trims and optional packages. However, there are some standard features which come with the entry-level X7. These include Frontal Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Collision Mitigation, Active Protection and Active Driving Assistant including Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Cross Traffic Alert Rear, and Speed Limit Information.

As you climb up the ladder, the more luxurious features are added and some of the more notable ones are Extended Traffic Jam Assist, which is a part of the Driving Assistant Professional package, Evasion Aid and Emergency Stop Assistant. Of course, there are much more and these are just examples.

Pricing

The 2019 BMW X7 will be quite costly. The starting model carries the price tag of $73,900, excluding the $995 destination fee. Compared to the X5, the X7 is $13,000 more expensive. Meanwhile the xDrive50i starts at $92,600 and this is the first Bimmer which can be pre-ordered online.
