Dodge has announced that the new model will run a 1.7-second quarter mile, making it the fastest street-legal production car with the naturally aspirated engine on the market today. We can only imagine what performance will look like once the enthusiasts get their hand on it. As the factory says: “The Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is a blank canvas for the serious grassroots drag racer.”
Widebody
Let’s start with the exterior. The new widebody design offers more aerodynamic shape, pinning the car to the ground at high speed while preserving the iconic silhouette.

Interior

If you are planning to drive your friends in the new Dodge, you will be in for a surprise. There is only one, driver’s, seat inside the car. Every other one has been removed to save some 114 pounds of weight. You can get them as an option a dollar a piece.

2019 Dodge Challenger Engine

And finally, we get to what is important. A 392 Hemi V-8 engine that powers the new model delivers 485 horsepower and ridiculous 475 pound-feet of torque, all sent to the rear axle. The transmission is a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain, featuring “extreme-duty” 41-spline half shafts, comes from Dodge Demon model. There are also plenty of other goodies packed under the hood, like asymmetrical limited-slip differential with a 3.09 final drive and Nexen SUR4G drag radials.

Assuring that you can get the car to perform as it was designed to is the job for a revamped launch control, with a precise control of how much power is delivered to each wheel, ensuring maximum grip and acceleration.
Once underway, you eventually need to stop and that’s the job for Brembo high-performance brake package with four-pot calipers.
