The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is at our doorstep and it will look considerably different than the previous model. Let’s check it out.
2019 Hyundai Elantra Redesign
The new Elantra has been revealed in Park City, Utah at an event which is organized specifically. This model is not a brand-new car but only a facelifted version. Still, we have a lot to look forward to. The Elantra is one of the most important Hyundai models and it packs a lot of safety equipment which is going to lure the buyers.
We have already mentioned that the New Elantra has been previewed in Park City, Utah. Even though it was a small event, it had global connotations. Since it has already been introduced, we expect the new Elantra to appear at the local dealership soon. The exact date is unknown.
2018 Hyundai Elantra starts at $16,950, which is the price range we expect to be repeated with the new model. The pricing is still unknown, but a small boost would not be surprising.
The vehicle that has been presented in Utah look different from the one you can find in Hyundai showrooms now. The front end has been changed drastically which now features sharp triangular headlights. And such headlights don’t belong in the overall look of the car. It appears as if the South Korean company attempted to make a more aggressive Elantra, but they only changed the headlamps. Such design is not followed with the hood or the roof.
In spite of that, the new Elantra doesn’t feel weird.
The rear lights are large and horizontal and they now come with the graphics which echo the edges of the new styling up front. It sounds confusing indeed, but Hyundai attempted to combine a sharp look with the soothing design of the Elantra and they made it work. Unfortunately, the entry level will not feature the front lights with LED tech, which look magnificent.
As you assumed, a majority of the changes were outside. However, there are some differences in the cabin such as modified HVAC vents, and a slightly new look of the infotainment system. Opt for one of the upper models and you will get an 8.0-inch display that brings in the new infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. If you decide to save money, you will get a car with a minimalist, 5.0-inch screen.
Even though it is a facelift, we haven’t seen any changes under the hood. The engine which powers the base trim is still the 1.4-liter turbocharged unit which delivers 128 ponies. It will be connected with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission in the 2019 Hyundai Elantra.
The buyers can still opt for the manual gearbox, but only if they purchase the models which pack a 2.0-liter powerplant. The most exciting model out of all is the Elantra Sport which goes with the courtesy of a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that generates 201 hp.
With the exception of the entry-level Elantra, all the other models come with safety equipment galore. Some of the tech you will have as standard include forward-collision warning and active lane control, cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning and auto emergency brake assist. Since this is a Hyundai we are talking about a review camera is an obligatory part of the equipment and the company described the safety tech as “life-saving.” 2019 Hyundai Elantra
The new model really brought a different design to the market from the one we got used to on the Elantra. It was a courageous move by Hyundai, but they did succeed in making the Elantra more exotic than ever.
