The ongoing generation of the Veloster has been released back in 2011 and despite all odds, the car sold quite well. This was mostly thanks to its really quirky design but also a great set of features which allowed it to be a really good value for money car. In order to get even better, it seems a new model will be released with the upcoming 2019 Hyundai Veloster. So far Hyundai decided to stay quiet about it. However, the car has been actually spied testing on the road as well as on the track. It looks like it will receive a brand new design as well as plenty of other upgrades which should make it that much better to drive.
N version, excellent performance
Little information is known about the new Veloster N version
2019 Hyundai Veloster Review
Like its predecessor, it seems the new generation of the Veloster will still be based on the same platform as the tiny i20 hatchback.
“N” versions will get a fully independent suspension system as well as a wider front and rear axles
The two cars are expected to boast the same wheelbase and roughly the same track width.
On top of that, it seems like the suspension setup will be identical too. However, this will only stand true for the base models of the Veloster.
The range-topping Turbo and “N” versions will get a fully independent suspension system as well as a wider front and rear axles. These will allow the car to be faster and better to drive.
It will also give it a huge edge when it comes to the comfort of its passengers. The brakes are also expected to be improved over the hatchback despite what the early rumors suggested.
The range-topping model seems to boast massive 310mm or over disc brakes in the front which is quite large for a car that will weigh far less than 3,000 pounds.
Let’s look at the 2017 New Hyundai Veloster Turbo Quick Drive review
The quirky look of the original will more than likely be carried over to the upcoming 2019 Hyundai Veloster.
In the front, it looks like it will still feature a massive hexagonal grille
Even though the manufacturer decided to keep quiet, the camouflaged test mule reveals quite a few interesting things about the future car.
|2017 Hyundai Veloster||Exterior Dimensions|
|Track Width, Front||61.5 inch|
In the front, it looks like it will still feature a massive hexagonal grille but this time around it will have a honeycomb mesh insert.
The headlights seem to be much slimmer than before while the bumper seems to have angular fog-lamps housings for added aggressiveness.
The regular models of the car on the other hand will likely get rid of the aggressive bumper and honeycomb grille for something a bit more subdued.
In the back, it looks like the car will still boast that really unusual coupe-like look.
The rear window on the other hand seems to be larger while the bumper seems to boast visible exhaust pipes.
The four-door layout, with a door on the driver’s side, two on the passenger’s side and one in the back, will remain which will likely make the 2019 Hyundai Veloster a really desirable car.
Inside the cabin
Unfortunately, the interior of the new model hasn’t been revealed just yet.
Unfortunately, we still do not have an image of the interior, not even spy photo….
Even so, we wouldn’t be surprised if the car will feature a similar layout to that of the i20 hatchback.
The seats will likely be better and more supportive but the overall set of features as well as part of the materials should be shared between the two cars.
The Veloster is likely going to boast just as much space inside with the only real change over the hatchback being the trunk space which will more likely be less than in the i20.
Engine and Specs of 2019 Hyundai Veloster
The range-topping 2019 Hyundai Veloster N is expected to come equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline 4 engine. This is expected to offer between 240 and 280 horsepower and north of 250 lb-ft of torque.
All the power is actually going to be sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic which would be really interesting to see.

|Engine Type||Regular Unleaded I-4|
|Fuel System||Gasoline Direct Injection|
|EPA Fuel Economy||Hwy (MPG) 34|
|EPA Fuel Economy||City (MPG) 27|
This dual-clutch unit should give the car superior performance over its hot-hatch sibling. However, it would also take away from the driving experience.
The lesser models of the Veloster are expected to boast either a 1.0-liter turbo-three or a larger 1.6-liter turbo-four.
These should offer anything between 120 and 200 horsepower which would be more than enough for the usual driver.
Unlike the range-topping model, these engines are also expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual so driving enthusiasts might actually go for them too.
Release and Price
It’s probably a bit too early to talk about the price for the new Veloster. We already know that Veloster, so far, was cheaper than its competitors.
We hope that this will be the case in the future, so we expect the price to be around $24,000 and for the N version to cost more than $30,000.
We expect the first presentation of 2019 Veloster next year and the sale will start by the end of 2018 ….
|Let's compare ...||Competition and Price|
|Hyundai Veloster||$19,000 - $24,000|
|Volkswagen Golf||$20,000 - $29,000|
|Mazda Mazda3||$18,000 - $26,000|
