Kia has redesigned its luxurious K900, and they have high hopes regarding the new car. There are some significant changes and even though this vehicle is improved, will it be able to compete against its fierce rivals such as the Acura RLX, Lincoln Continental or Cadillac CT6? 2019 Kia K900
2019 Kia K900 Review
The newly redesigned car is seen in the streets of San Diego, California, shooting a commercial. At first glance, this vehicle looks pretty cool, and some of the changes are obvious while the others not so much.
In the meantime, the South Korean company has released the first official picture of the new model that is intended for the home market, and unlike the one spotted in San Diego, the car in the photo is all black.
One of the competitors we have “forgotten” to mention is the Genesis G90. The K900 shares its platform with this car, which means that the performance of the redesigned Kia will be improved and the driver will have a more premium experience.
However, Kia has modified the platform, and they state that the wheelbase is 2.3 inches longer compared to the one of the current Kia K900, but 2.2 inches shorter than the G90. With this seemingly insignificant modification, the new Kia K900 should behave much better on the road.
The current model is just way behind the competitors that are similarly priced. But Kia has obviously tried to improve this model, and we hope that the redesigned car will be much more fun to drive. Let’s check out what some other differences are.
Engine and Specs
The new 2019 Kia K900 is going to be equipped with the G90’s two engines. The first unit is the twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 that delivers 296 horsepower whereas the second one is a 5.0-liter V8 that generates 420 horsepower.
Currently, a 3.8-liter V6 powers the Kia K900 and this engine has the output of 329 horses, and it is expected to be featured in the redesigned model will a slight boost.
|2019 Kia K900||Short Specs|
|Three Engine Options|
|1. 3.8-Liter V-6||329 HP|
|2. 3.3-Liter V-6||296 HP|
|3. 5.0-Liter V-8||420 HP|
|Transmission||Eight-Speed Automatic Gearbox|
The powerplant will be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, but why is there an AWD badge on the front fenders of the car? It only shows that all-wheel drive configuration will be an option.
Even though the K900 has been redesigned, the things will not change much for this model when it comes to sales. The sedans are no longer popular as they used to be and the carmaker only sends a few hundred units of the new 2019 Kia K900 to the USA to compete against the other luxury models such as the Genesis G90. But what’s new about Kia K900?
Instead of featuring another bleak and forgettable design. Kia asked its California studio to help them out, and the result is visible. The rear end looks similar to the derriere of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Whereas the cabin features an analog clock created by Swiss watchmaker Maurice Lacroix. It is an excellent touch, but also in the cabin, you can find the LED mood lighting that glows in different colors.
The starting price of the new model will be below $60,000. But those who have set their eyes on the upper V8 model will have to pay more than $70,000. However, Kia is still going to be an inexpensive selection. Considering that one of its main rivals is a costly Genesis G90
