Kia has presented the refreshed 2019 Kia Optima at the New York International Auto Show. The company’s best-selling midsize sedan has become even better, and the visitors have had a chance to see an improved designed, expanded ADAS technology and the new UVO infotainment. Furthermore, the red and black two-tone sports leather trim seats have become available in the United States, and the car now comes with new alloy wheels as well as ambient LED interior lighting.
2019 Kia Optima Review
Orth Hendrick, product planning vice president for Kia Motors America, said: “The Optima continues to be one of our best-sellers for a good reason; its stand-out design sets it apart from other cars in the midsize segment.
The 2019 refresh sharpens the overall design inside and out, and we are making a number of ADAS technologies standard across the entire Optima line, which underlies the tremendous value Optima offers. 2019 Hyundai i20 – read about…
A new approach to our award-winning telematics system, UVO, will make it easier for buyers to understand its features and UVO link includes an embedded modem. The new two-tone sports seats are for those looking to differentiate their Optima with unique European-inspired design cues.”
The Kia will assemble the new refreshed model at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia in West Point Georgia. The new Optima will hit the market in the US later in the year, and it will be available in several trims including the LX, S, EX, and SX.
Specs and Interior
The new Optima is going to come with a bunch of redesigned interior and exterior details. For instance the LX trim will have LED DRLs inspired by Stinger as well as 16-inch alloy wheels as standard features. Meanwhile, the S model will come with abundance of features such as a gloss-black grille, push-button start, dual exhaust and smart trunk, to name a few. Kia Optima – Wikipedia
The EX adds new leather seating surfaces as well as front seat heaters whereas the range-topping SX will come with panoramic roof, two-tone sport leather-trimmed seats as well as premium audio system with UVO link with Navigation and so much more
Alongside the regular model, Kia is expected to launch the hybrid as well. It will be slightly more expensive than the base trim but it is perfect for those who are looking for an efficient vehicle. There is so much to like about the 2019 Kia Optima Hybrid, but for a vehicle of such kind, the fuel economy can be better.
No major changes are expected in this department as the new hybrid will still have tech which is easy to use and a lot of space in the cabin.
We have already mentioned that Kia Optima will find its way to the dealerships before the year ends. The price of the new model hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect the newly refreshed model to cost slightly more than the 2018 car which is priced at $23,495.
If you cannot wait for the new vehicle to come out, you can buy the 2018 Optima. As well because the changes are not that noticeable.
The 2019 Kia Optima will be the same in the engine department as its predecessor. The 4-cylinder unit will be carried over. The LX and S trim will have the engine good for 185 horsepower and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
In the meantime, the Optima EX will sport a 1.6-liter turbo powerplant that generates 178 hp. And it is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. As for the highest model in the lineup, a 2.0-liter turbo-4 unit is reserved. And this one will be connected with a 6-speed automatic.
The unit which would suit you the most depends on your preferences. The best choice is a quick 2.0-liter unit, but the 1.6-liter produces more torque than the base engine.
However, its transmission has had some issues in the previous model, and hopefully, Kia addressed these problems in shifting.
