2019 Lexus UX

The new 2019 Lexus UX will hit the market soon. We are not familiar with every detail at this moment, but let’s check out why this model is surrounded by hype!

2019 Lexus UX Review

Lexus has finally launched the long-anticipated compact crossover called the UX, and we are excited to see the car in the market. It is the first model created by this brand that will come with the newly developed GA-C platform. It looks similar to the LC500 model, but it has a family feel to it. This car has interesting features both inside and outside the car, so let’s check it out.

First Look

The spindle grille is something we have got used to seeing from this brand, but there are weird corner stilts which are more extreme than on the other models. Furthermore, the hood is curved sharply, whereas the headlights are similar to the ones of the LC500, but they have a different LED strip. With the black mirror caps and roof rack, together with the black spindle grille, Lexus achieved enough contrast all over the car.

The rear end will confuse you, and at first, you will wonder whether this is just a poorly photoshopped picture. Not that it looks bad, but you need to take a second look just to make sure everything is a part of this car, and nothing is just glued to it.

Interior

The interior is a combination of different details, and you can clearly see some German and Japanese influence, but if you take a closer look, there is obviously some American DNA as well. Lexus managed to create an attractive and futuristic cabin without losing its own identity.

The infotainment system of the 2019 Lexus UX is large with integrated digital display and embedded appearance. The dashboard is slightly curved, and the driver feels entirely in control of the car, whereas the steering wheel features a bunch of controls. Although the cabin is driver-oriented, the passengers will get the same support and comfort.

There is a lot of room in the front and back. Leather dominates the interior whereas the top portion of the door trim meets the dashboard, whereas the bottom part of the door trim meets the HVAC vents and it seems as it disappears into nothingness.

Engine and Specs

The engine Lexus uses for the new UX 200 is a brand-new 2.0-liter gasoline engine. According to the brand, this unit provides high-speed combustion, multi-hole direct fuel injectors, intelligent variable valve timing and variable cooling system and oil pump. The engine is connected to the Direct Shift CVT. This transmission is smooth and responsive, and you won’t feel the car shift the gears.

Furthermore, it should enhance the fuel economy. The company didn’t describe this engine in detail, but we know for a fact that it delivers 168 horsepower. Torque numbers are unknown at the moment. This may seem as low, but the 2019 Lexus UX is not a performance vehicle, and it is not a particularly large car either, and it should be enough for a great driving experience.

As for the UX 250h, it will use a new-generation hybrid power system that comes with a brand-new transaxle. Power control unit for maximum power. The only thing Lexus was willing to disclose is that this vehicle produces 176 hp and for all, we know this super-new system can use a redesigned 2.5-liter from the NX model. We need to wait for the official information.

Price – 2019 Lexus UX

Lexus still has to reveal the price for the new UX model. The NX is the brand’s smallest crossover. And it currently costs $35,985 and $38,385 for the gasoline-powered and hybrid model respectively. With that in mind, we expect the UX 200 to start around $30,000. Whereas the hybrid will be around $3,000-$4,000 more expensive.

Release Date

The 2019 Lexus UX will be launched in December 2018. Whereas the production of this car will kick off sometime in fall! Once it goes on sale, the new model will fight against Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
