Around since 2014, the Navara became one of the better selling trucks on the market. Even so, it looks like Nissan is still looking to upgrade it even further. While a new model is still years away, the should release a relatively large update with the upcoming 2019 Nissan Navara. This will basically be the facelift for the truck, so expect design changes, upgrades inside the cabin and under the hood. Unfortunately, the details are still scarce at this point. Even so, it is safe to assume the new Navara is not going to stray far from its predecessor. For starters, the truck is likely going to receive an updated steering rack. This has been a problem with the current model as it didn’t really offer any type of feedback. By changing this, the truck should not only become more enjoyable to drive but also far easier.
2019 Nissan Navara Rumors
The running gear is also expected to go through a small update. While the shocks and springs are likely to remain the same, at least in the front, some suggested the rear will now come with stiffer springs. This would solve the issue when the truck is empty and it would make it a bit more controllable.
On top of that, the rear drum brakes should be finally gone. These have plagued the model ever since its inception and it finally looks like we are going to receive a Navara with rear disc brakes.
These should be easier to maintain as well as more efficient. As before, the suspension will continue to offer the fully independent layout but it looks like Nissan may have turned to Mercedes for a better insight as to how to make the truck more comfortable.
As we have said, the look of the 2019 Nissan Navara is likely going to change slightly. In the front, the truck should receive a more similar design to Nissan’s other new crossovers and SUVs.
We expect to see a new V-shaped grille, more aggressive headlights, and a new bumper. The hood may also receive a bulge for some versions which would get things a step further as well.
The bed may also receive a new tailgate but unfortunately, this has yet to be confirmed up to this point. We also hope to see a new set of tail lights in the back but Nissan decided to remain quiet about this.
If we take a close look at the cabin of the current model then we can see technology from nearly a decade ago. We hope things will change with the upcoming 2019 Nissan Navara.
If the rumors are anything to go by then the car should boast a new dashboard, less physical buttons as well as a newer infotainment system.
The center stack should now face the driver while the really old-looking steering wheel should finally be gone in the favor of something more similar to that of the new Micra.
Engine and Specs
As before, the 2019 Navara should boast a few different engines depending on the market it will be sold in. The most basic model of the truck is likely going to feature a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-four gasoline mill with little over 170 horsepower.
A 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel with not that much power is also going to be available in some emerging markets. The one most will get through will be the 2.3 liters turbocharged, or twin-turbocharged, inline-four diesel. This is a relatively new unit which managed to impress quite a few people.
The output is likely going to rise to around 170 horsepower for the base model and over 200 horsepower for the twin-turbo version. In both cases, the engine should become more efficient thanks to a revised engine management system. As before, a 6-speed manual will be standard while a great 7 speed automatic will be an option.
Release and Price
Considering the past, it is safe to assume the 2019 Nissan Navara will hit the showrooms’ floor by the mid of 2018. It should then go on sale roughly a couple of months after at a similar price to that of the ongoing model.
The range-topping models in Australia will still cost well over $55,000, thus making it one of the most expensive trucks on sale.
