2019 Toyota Tundra Redesign

2019 Toyota Tundra

A couple of years ago a document was leaked about Toyota’s future road-map. This said that in 2017 the Tundra would receive an update while in 2019 the truck would be completely revised with a brand new version. Even though at the time it seemed like nothing but rumors, this might actually be true, especially since a couple of months ago Toyota released a revised Tundra. This means that the upcoming 2019 Toyota Tundra will be the all-new model everyone has been waiting for.

News

Will Supra defeat Tundra? You don’t understand? Currently, Tundra is the fastest car from the Toyota family. With the option, TRD Supercharger, Pickup has extremely fast acceleration and remarkable performance. This option puts the new model far beyond the competition. In this regard, the new Supra has a serious task, which is to surpass the pickup with more advanced features. Will it be able to do so? – Update: 11.14.2017

It is clear that Toyota can’t quite compete in the truck-based vehicles segment and that is one of the topics about which Ed Lukas spoke at the 2017 Texas State Fair. One of the questions was if it is time for the Japanese brand to upgrade aging platform they have and Lukas answered “One hundred percent. We are working on that right now.”

Another issue for this carmaker is the fact that major players in the segment like Ford, GM and Ram are constantly adding new and upgraded features to their vehicles. It is clear that Toyota want’s to expand and offer more models in truck and SUV market as the popularity of these is increasing and with it, the number of sales.

This is not all as we could see new headquarters that have been built in Texas and we know how much that state loves trucks. Furthermore, both Tacoma and 2019 Toyota Tundra will be made in a facility that is located in San Antonio. – Update: 11.2.2017

2019 Toyota Tundra Diesel Redesign

This article is just a rumor!!!

Concept and Rumors

In short, everything. The 2019 truck is expected to get a new chassis, running gear and a new body. This is actually required in order to allow the more than a decade-old truck to compete with its much newer rivals. The 2019 model is likely going to be based on a new all high strength steel chassis

This should decrease the weight slightly while offering much better torsional rigidity than its predecessor. The live rear axle is likely here to stay and so is the independent front suspension setup. This would allow Toyota for a huge range of configurations which is always nice for a truck.

The brakes are likely going to be heavily revised with larger rotors and heavier duty calipers. These changes alone should allow the Tundra’s tow rating to increase from 10,000 to north of 12,000 pounds.

Even though not official at this point, it also seems the truck may get aluminum body panels. The fenders, hood, roof and possibly the doors could be made out of it.

Even though it has been revised recently, the new 2019 Toyota Tundra will look nothing like its predecessor. Instead, it seems the truck may share a lot more in common with the new Tacoma

The two trucks are expected share the hexagonal grille and the swept-back headlights. However, the Tundra is more than likely going to boast a hood-scoop as standard as well as a completely different bumper.

The muscular body found on the Tacoma is also highly possible but the Tundra will definitely offer a much wider stance than its smaller sibling. In the back Toyota is expected to offer a tailgate step, a feature already available on many of its rivals, as well as better bed management system.

The TRD, TRD Pro and TRD Sports versions are likely going to stick around as well. These will come with visual and performance upgrades over their regular siblings.

Interior

The 2019 Toyota Tundra is expected to get an entirely new cabin which will have very little in common with its predecessor. In fact, it seems Toyota may turn to their smaller truck for inspiration. The much better layout found in the Tacoma may also be used in the larger Tundra. This combines the high-mounted infotainment system with the cleaner and more modern-looking dashboard.

The curved details as well as the, as well as the minimalist design, likely going to be seen on the Tundra as well. We can also expect better materials than before, more safety features as standard as well as a nicer driving position

Engine and Specs – Diesel

At this point, it still is unclear as to what engines the 2019 Toyota Tundra is going to use. The 4.6 liter naturally aspirated V8 is likely going to be gone, especially since it only offers 310 horsepower. In its place, Toyota is expected to install one of their new twin-turbocharged V6 engines.

One of them has already been released and it is known to make close to 400 horsepower from a 3.5-liter displacement. A lower displacement 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 would easily offer around 330 to 350 horsepower and over 350 lb-ft of torque. This would give it a clear advantage over its main rivals.

The 5.7 liter naturally aspirated V8 is expected to be retained. However, it will likely receive port and fuel injection, cylinder deactivation and lower friction internals.

The end result should be over 400 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The gearbox will more than likely be replaced by either an 8 or a 10-speed automatic which will improve fuel consumption and overall driving experience.

2019 Toyota Tundra Release date and Price

The price is still unknown at this point but we would expect the base model to still cost around $32,000 which is still more than any of its direct competitors. We are expecting a new 2019 Tundra at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. These are still unofficial information.
