The Escalade is a big and luxurious SUV which has been around for nearly two decades. Its design didn’t change all that much since the beginning. The car still features a ladder frame and it still shares most of its running gear with GM’s full-size trucks. This comes with its benefits and drawbacks though. The Escalade is quite comfortable and really spacious. However, it might feel a bit too rough at times and its fuel economy is abysmal. It looks like an update might be on its way. Most rumors seem to suggest the future 2020 Cadillac Escalade might be the all-new model everyone is looking for. Some suggested this may not be the case. However, if GM wants to remain relevant then they will have to do something about the Escalade as soon as possible.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Concept
Just like before, the new Escalade is likely going to retain the ladder frame chassis. However, the car will come with far more features than before and it should be considerably better to drive as well.
How is GM going to achieve all of that? Well, for starters, the chassis will be the same as that of the new GM full-size trucks. This means a high strength steel frame on top of which an aluminum body with some steel parts might be installed. This means the new Escalade could be with up to 1,000 pounds lighter than its predecessor.
2018 Cadillac Escalade
Power: 420 hp
MPG: 14 /23 – City/Highway
Curb Weight: 5,856 lbs
Dimensions: 204″ L x 81″ W x 74″ H
MSRP – Base: $74,700
Premium Luxury: $84,700
This will translate into better NVH levels, a far more composed ride and considerably better on and off-road capabilities. This type of design would allow the massive 2020 Cadillac Escalade to drive as good as it looks and it should be its saving feature.
So far the Escalade was quite similar to GM’s other full-size SUVs when it comes to its looks. However, this may not hold true for the future model. It looks like the 2020 Cadillac Escalade will get the unique design in order to be able to better compete with the Lincoln Navigator. We can expect a more aggressive styling with far more design cues from Cadillac’s other vehicles. The front will likely feature a similar setup to that found on the XT5 while in the back we may see a sloping roof. All of these should allow the Escalade to become one of the most impressive cars to look at in its class.

Most rumors seem to suggest the future 2020 Cadillac Escalade will be available in a few different configurations. An 8 seat version will likely be standard. However, for the revised model, Cadillac may also decide to offer a 4 seat model with two captain’s chairs in the back.
This would make it more appealing to those looking to be chauffeured around. In terms of materials and style, the new car should provide a far more modern feel than before which will definitely allow it to shine.
Engine and Specs
The massive 6.2 liter V8 might not make it into the upcoming Escalade. In its place, Cadillac may install one of their two new twin-turbocharged V6 engines. The car could get either a 3.0 liter or a larger 3.6-liter unit with as much as 450 horsepower and over 450 lb-ft of torque.
With the help of the lighter body and the far more rigid chassis, the new model should be far better to drive and more efficient. In fact, it looks like we can expect more than 20% better fuel efficiency while being faster than before.
A hybrid is also a real possibility, especially in the high-end market where people do care what engines their car has. Unfortunately, the details are still scarce but it looks like the new Escalade will definitely impress.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Release and Price
Considering how extensive the redesign process is, it is safe to assume that GM will not release the new Cadillac for a while. In fact, it looks like they might release the new Escalade in the late 2019 and the car may go on sale in early 2020.
|Land Rover Range Rover Evoque||$41,900|
The base model is still going to cost north of $75,000 which is in the upper range of its class. The range-topping models will go for far more than $100,000 which will make it one of GM’s most expensive products.
